What was your inspiration for pursuing a job in STEM?
“I absolutely loved studying Engineering at Elon. However, I always saw myself in a more client-facing role. Over time and throughout college, I realized that both paths were driven by the same things: a curiosity to learn, tackle challenges, and think through complex problems. This mindset that drew me to engineering is the same mindset that drew me to pursuing my current role as an entry-level technical seller.”
What was your favorite part of the Accelerate Success program while attending Le Moyne College?
“There are so many! However, the one that stands out to me Summer Intern Event! My friend and I went to this event after work one day at our incredible summer internship, and it is such a fun memory for both of us! We heard an amazing keynote from Rachel Graham, connected with other girls interning in the Triangle area, and had insightful round-table discussions with leaders in our industries!”
How did Accelerate Success help you prepare for your career?
“Having attended an all-girls high school, I value the impact of learning and growing alongside a community of ambitious, supportive women. When I came to college, I hoped to find that same sense of community, and this program gave me exactly that. I've always been motivated by surrounding myself with people who inspire me, and I found that in both my peers and mentors in this program. Every event, workshop, and conversation left me feeling a renewed sense of passion for my goals towards my future career.”
Maddie’s Advice
“LEARN as much as you can and remember that balance is important too! Working hard and learning as much as you can are essential, but so is making memories along the way. Despite what I heard before starting college, I found that I didn't have to sacrifice one for the other. If I had let that fear stop me from studying engineering, I would have regretted it. Within your program, prioritize building meaningful relationships, both with your peers and your professors. Every late night, study session, and group project feels more enjoyable when you're sharing the experience with friends. Embrace what makes you unique and rather than comparing yourself to others, leverage that uniqueness throughout your collegiate journey! Feel free to reach out anytime if you have any questions about studying STEM or college in general!”
