What was your inspiration for pursuing a job in STEM?
“I’ve always enjoyed science, especially laboratory work as a young girl. I was additionally inspired by various forensic TV shows, and that allowed me to consider forensic science as a career path.”
What was your favorite part of the Accelerate Success program while attending Le Moyne College?
“I enjoyed the panel events when we got to hear from past Accelerate Success members and answer questions about their professional experiences.”
How did Accelerate Success help you prepare for your career?
“Accelerate Success prepared me for professional experiences by demonstrating what to expect in interviews, preparation for different events (interviews, presentations, etc), and how to behave professionally. I found it very useful even in everyday life, as I feel it has also made me a better communicator both within and outside of my job. I also appreciated hearing from women of different backgrounds which gave me inspiration and insight to various perspectives of women in STEM fields.”
Daniela’s Advice
“As a recent MS graduate that is currently employed in an entry-level position, I personally found it difficult to find the exact position I desired in the forensic sciences. It’s important to be patient and remind yourself that everyone starts somewhere! Entry-level positions are great opportunities to fortify current skills and learn new ones.”
